Matt Kenseth Races to Thrilling Win at Pocono
Thanks to smart fuel conservation, Matt Kenseth was able to pass several drivers down the stretch and win NASCAR’s Windows 10 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa. on Sunday afternoon.
Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr. were all near the top of the field when they each ran out of fuel during the last five laps of the 400-mile race. Kenseth sped past them to gain his second win of the 2015 Sprint Cup season and first since Bristol in April.
Brad Keselowski finished second, with Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Greg Biffle rounding out the top five.
The winner of the last three Sprint Cup Series races, Kyle Busch was unable to capture his fourth consecutive checkered flag. He finished 21st and remained outside the top 30 drivers — the cut-off for NASCAR’s 16-driver Chase playoff races, which start Sept. 20 in Chicago.
Kevin Harvick remained in first place in the season’s points standings with Logano, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson and Truex Jr. immediately behind him.
