Mississippi and Hampton each won First Four games in the 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament on Tuesday night. The Rebels and the Pirates advanced to first-round games on Thursday.

Ole Miss 94, BYU 90

Stefan Moody scored 26 points and Mississippi rallied from a 17-point halftime deficit to beat BYU, 94-90, in a First Four game of the 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday night.

With the win, 11th-seeded Ole Miss advanced to Jacksonville, Fla., to play Xavier on Thursday afternoon in the West Region. The Rebels (21-12) trailed until halfway through the second half when Moody ignited a 15-2 rally.

Senior guard Tyler Haws scored 33 points to lead BYU (25-10), which squandered a 49-32 halftime advantage and saw its season end.

Hampton 74, Manhattan 64

Quinton Chievous tallied 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Hampton University past Manhattan College, 74-64, in a First Four game of the 2015 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday night.

With the victory, the 16th-seeded Pirates (17-17) advanced to face undefeated, top-ranked Kentucky in first-round play of the tournament’s Midwest Region in Louisville on Thursday.

Hampton led 38-31 at halftime and kept the Jaspers (19-14) down in the second half. Guard Reginald Johnson added 15 points for the Pirates. His two late steals helped clinch the win.

Shane Richards scored 17 points to pace Manhattan.
