Dolphins Rally Past Jets On Late FG, 16-13
Caleb Sturgis kicked a tie-breaking 26-yard field goal with 1:57 left, and the Miami Dolphins rallied past the New York Jets, 16-13, at the Meadowlands on Monday night. The Dolphins’ defense preserved the victory when Reshad Jones intercepted a Geno Smith pass deep inside Miami territory with 39 seconds to play.
On the rainy, cool night in New Jersey, the Jets’ eschewed the passing game and used their running attack to build a 10-3 halftime lead. New York (2-10) was still ahead 13-6 heading into the fourth quarter, until Miami rallied via Lamar Miller’s 4-yard touchdown run and Sturgis’ third field goal of the game.
Jets' kicker Nick Folk missed two field goals, including a 45-yarder with 5:46 remaining which would have given his team the lead. Smith completed seven of 13 pass attempts for 65 yards for New York. Teammate Chris Johnson carried 17 times for 105 yards.
Dolphins’ quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 235 yards with one interception. With the win, Miami (7-5) stayed in line to claim one of the two AFC Wild Card spots.
