You could say this doctor Ruffles the feathers of the the medical establishment.

Chicago Cubs pitcher Jason Hammel says the team doctor told him to eat potato chips to help him battle cramps he's been having because chips have a lot of potassium.

Hammel, who tossed six innings of three-hit, one-run ball, en route to getting the win in his team's 3-1 win on Saturday, talked about the unusual dietary advice he got during the All-Star break after the game.

"My prescription is potato chips, which blew me away because I've never heard a doctor that said potato chips.
"For my cramps, if it's a chronic thing, [the doctor] said, 'Potato chips,' because they have a lot of potassium and the sea salt helps retain water," Hammel said. "So I focused on that over the break and ate a lot of potato chips, and I think it turned out pretty well."

Yea, we're guessing that when your World Series drought climbs over a century, you're going to start doing some unconventional things to try and win. Considering the Cubbies have a stranglehold on first place, it appears to be a good move at the moment. But these are the Cubs, so you never know when something will go wrong.

But if the Cubs end up ending their World Series drought? Well, let's just say we won't be surprised if there's a new team in MLB called the Tampa Bay Lay's.
