Blocked Field Goal Turns Into Miraculously Made Field Goal on Kicker’s Second Try
Never has three points been so tough to earn.
Texas Lutheran kicker Tyler Hopkins converted a chip shot field goal during last weekend's game against Belahven, but it's how the kick went through the uprights that will have people talking.
Hopkins' kick was blocked, but the ball went tumbling down onto the ground right in front of him, so he kicked it again and nailed it for the most unconventional field goal you'll ever see.
The kick counted, although there is strong evidence that it shouldn't have.
Whether it was legal or not, one thing remains clear: Texas Lutheran didn't need it. The Bulldogs won easily, 37-0. It was a definitely wild play, but we're still debating if it's crazier than the scramble that caused a third and 93.
