Soccer Announcer Fired for Snoring During Live Broadcast of Key Match
Sleeping on the job is bad enough. Sleeping on the job while an entire nation watches? Well, that may be a career killer.
Dong Lu, a commentator with China's LeTV, has been fired after he fell asleep and snored while broadcasting a Champions League match between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Dong lost his battle with consciousness around the 80th minute, which occurred around 5 a.m. local time.
Dong, who's been doing commentary for two decades, was let go after the incident.
The match sounded more like a nailbiter than a snoozer, with Real Madrid winning 1-0 and advancing to the round of 16.
If we were a snarky comedian, we'd be inclined to say no one has been this asleep on the job with their country watching since President Bush handled Hurricane Katrina. But we're not a snarky comedian, so we'll skip it.
