Watch This Inside-the-Park Grand Slam (Because You May Never See Another)

The season of oddities in baseball continues to roll along.

We’ve witnessed the seldom seen run scoring on a triple play, the impossibly rare infield triple and a fan go up in arms because she doesn’t know what K means. Add this to the list that’s growing quicker than a long reliever’s ERA.

J.P. Crawford, a shortstop with the Phillies’ Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, hit an inside-the-park grand slam during Wednesday’s 8-2 victory over the Gwinnett Braves. Crawford crushed a ball into center field. Everyone in front of him scored and Crawford went for home. He should’ve been a dead duck at the plate, but he beat the tag with a slide that they’ll be talking about for years to come.

Crawford was the Phillies’ first round draft pick back in 2013. He’s struggled at the plate this season, but maybe this offbeat round-tripper will get him going.
