Well, here's an incentive you don't see in too many contracts.

Brandon Laird, who's playing for the Nippon Ham Fighters in Japan, won a year's supply of beer after he crushed a home run that hit a Kirin Beer sign during a game against the Orix Buffaloes on Tuesday.

So, instead of the shot heard 'round the world, you could say this was the lager heard 'round the world.

The dinger also netted Laird $10,000. He went one-for-three in the game and the homer was his tenth, which leads the team.

Laird, 28, had short stints with the Yankees and Astros in a brief Major League Baseball career that lasted 2011-2013.

"I think it’s pretty cool when they tell you if you hit the signs you get a prize like that,” Laird said. “To actually do it in a game was pretty cool."

Laird will use the money on his new house in Arizona, although he says he has no plans to drink the beer, joking that he may give it to batting practice pitchers, instead. That, or maybe share it with the fans, insuring he'll be a fan favorite for the rest of the season.
